چکیده

Introduction: Although frequently observed in magnetic resonance images, symptomatic thoracic disc herniations are rare. Surgical treatment is indicated when patients suffer from functional symptoms with no response to medical treatment, neurologic appear or worsen the event of myelopathy. Posterolateral approaches commonly accepted as for lateral and mediolateral non-calcified medial herniations. On other hand, anterior have been treat gigantic calcified Case presentation: This case report presents on a 57-year-old female patient suffering thoracolumbar pain impairment. The study showed images compatible posteromedial T12-L1 herniation that, after failure, required surgical treatment. Initially, posterior approach was performed, resulting immediate postoperative period motor sensitive deficit lower left limb, so reintervention performed using an approach, obtaining good clinical results. Conclusion: Thoracic uncommon. indication decided presence symptoms. Neurologic injury common complication due lesion’s characteristics it can also be secondary procedure. An adequate election may minimize injuries.

Spontaneous Resolution of Symptomatic Thoracic Spine Calcified Disc Herniation: A Case Report and Literature Review

Calcification of intervertebral disc (IVD) is an uncommon but well-defined clinical syndrome in children. Despite its benign nature, occasionally, calcified nucleus pulposus can herniate into the spinal canal. We report an interesting case of calcified disc herniation in the thoracic spine. Although it resulted in cord compression and syrinx formation, it well responded to conservative manageme...

Lower thoracic disc herniation mimicking lower lumbar disk disease: A case report

Thoracic disk herniation comprises 0.15% of all disk herniation and has various and confusing manifestations.  Among them, radicular pain down the leg could be the rarest presentation, especially if it is the only complaint. On the other hand, finding the relationship between clinical and paraclinical needs require high index of suspension and it is demanding. A 34-year-old patient, who ha...

Spontaneous intracranial hypotension due to thoracic disc herniation. Case report.

Spontaneous intracranial hypotension is frequently idiopathic. The authors report on a patient presenting with symptomatic intracranial hypotension caused by a transdural calcified thoracic disc herniation. Cranial magnetic resonance (MR) imaging revealed classic signs of intracranial hypotension, and a combination of spinal MR and computerized tomography myelography confirmed a mid-thoracic tr...

Surgical treatment of thoracic disc herniation using the anterior approach.

Between 1970 and 1980, at the National Murayama Hospital, 15 patients with thoracic disc herniation underwent total discectomy by an anterior approach, followed by interbody fusion using autogenous ifiac bone. The results in all 15 patients were favourable. The extrapleural approach to the thoracic vertebrae is preferred because of simplified postoperative care and easier prevention of respirat...

Posteriorly migrated thoracic disc herniation: a case report

UNLABELLED INTRODUCTION Posterior epidural migration of thoracic disc herniation is extremely rare but may occur in the same manner as in the lumbar spine. CASE PRESENTATION A 53-year-old Japanese man experienced sudden onset of incomplete paraplegia after lifting a heavy object. Magnetic resonance imaging revealed a posterior epidural mass compressing the spinal cord at the T9-T10 level. ...
